Moved by the plights of senior civil servants otherwise known as pensioners and retirees across Delta State, governorship candidate on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, promised to clear all outstanding pensions as he assumes office as governor come 2023.
The former minister of State for education, made the declaration on Saturday July 23rd 2022, during a prayer session held at his residence in his Oginibo country home, Ughelli south local government area of the state.
The largest private investor, said pensioners and retirees have served the state with all their lives and deserved to be paid their benefits like their counterparts all over the world.
He maintained that six months into his administration, he would ensure that no pensioner and retiree cries out that the State is indebted to him/her as he would rake in billions of naira from internally Generated Revenue (IGR) instead of waiting for allocation that takes the State nowhere.
“Within 200 days of my administration, no pensioner or retiree will be owed money in Delta State.
“The resources are there. So, stealing the money does not make any sense. NInety two percent of the money stolen cannot be used before they die. So, while not allow men and children of God to enjoy it? He asked.
