… as APC, LP Collapse Structures For SDP
The member representing Ughelli North/South/Udu federal constituency in the House of Representatives, from Delta state, Francis Ejiroghene Waive’s Obi-Ayagha kinsmen have rejected the All Progressives Congress (APC), preferring to vote for the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi and all other candidates of the party in the February and March contests in 2023.
They lamented the deliberate under development agenda against the community in Ughievwen kingdom, Ughelli south local government area of the state and alleged indifference of elected Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and APC representatives over the years.
They said after considering the governorship candidate of SDP, a former minister of State for education, Olorogun Gbagi, they were convinced that he would bring development to the community when elected governor.
Speaking during a consultative forum in Obi-Ayagha, the people of the community through their President General, Michael Ogedegbe, lamented lack of basic amenities in the area.
They pleaded with Gbagi, a former Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, not to forget the people once he was elected governor of the state.
The President General in his remarks said: “On behalf of the entire Obi-Ayagha community, we felt greatly honored to welcome you and your entourage.
“We must express our profound gratitude to you sir, on your visit to our community today, being a remarkable day.
“This is a day that Obi-Ayagha community has been waiting for. Sir, once again you are highly welcome.
“The entire sons and daughters of Obi-Ayagha community have important factors to please, kindly assist in granting our requests once you emerge as the Governor of Delta state.
“Our requests are as follows: The construction of the Agbada road that links to Oginibo community, power supply, internal roads, health center and skills acquisition center in Obi-Ayagha community”.
The SDP governorship candidate, a renowned Criminologist, who was elated by the crowd that attended the consultative meeting, said he was in the community to formally inform them that he is contesting the governorship of the state under the platform of the Social Democratic Party.
According to the international philanthropist cum largest private industrialist, “An Ughievwen son has not gone for the governorship before. Forget about party, this is for Ughievwen. I am an Ughievwen son.
“I will visit all the 32 communities in Ughievwen kingdom, I brought hospital, school to Ughievwen kingdom and a University to Urhobo nation.
“I am very sure that Obi-Ayagha people have umbrella and they are under the rain, it is unfair. SDP, was the platform Olorogun Felix Ibru, used in winning election in Delta State, saying, “I am only here to inform you that I am in the race of the Governorship of Delta State, let us not be fooled.
“That is why I have brought the party to you. Please, if someone keeps calling you a fool all the time, you stand on your ground to say no, I am not a fool.
“I don’t want any vote here to go to any other party. We have been deceived and cheated and that is the reason I have entered the race to bring dividends of democracy to us.
“Obi-Ayagha, please, this is not the issue of PDP, APC and Labour Party, we must get it right”, Gbagi declared.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the party in Ughelli south local government area, Pastor Amos Osiki, said the people of Jeremi Ward 4, were known as members of PDP “but now we have agreed to be members of SDP. I want to appeal to you, whatever you hear from the corner, ignore it.
“If you see a man of Ughievwen kingdom gunning for governor and you are going somewhere else, the land of Ughievwen will ask you questions.
“It is the turn of SDP, we have been deceived for too long, this time, they cannot deceive us again. I know you have the card of other parties but today you will take the membership card of SDP.
“This is our governor, let us work for him to the end. Let us not deceive ourselves”, he added.
Meanwhile, members of the PDP, APC and Labour Party, have collapsed their structures to deliver the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party and all its candidates in the forthcoming election.
Gbagi and his entourage were also treated to beautiful traditional music by a dancing troop that received him from the entrance of the Community to the town hall, venue of the consideration.
