… call for a full blown investigation
A former governorship aspirant under the auspices of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Ediri R. Idimi, said the Ubiomor Political Organization, is in full support of the decision of the frontline gubernatorial hopeful, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi’s decision to opt out of the race in Delta State.
The erstwhile aspirant who spoke on behalf of the Campaign Organization said the withdrawal was a good development as the State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was not sincere with the process.
He expressed his disapproval on behalf of the Organization which culminated into the final withdrawal of the largest private investor in the state and former minister of education from the governorship race.
He called on the leadership of the party to swing into a full blown investigation into what transpired between Gbagi, a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist and the the governor, Dr. Okowa, before it snowball into an uncontrollable crisis.
Said he: “Th Ubiomor Political Organization (UPO) under the leadership of Engr. Ediri R. IDIMI (UBIOMOR) wish to inform the members of the public that we stand with Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi on his decision to withdraw from the Gubernatorial Race of Delta State.
“We also want to use this opportunity to express our dissatisfaction in the conduct of Governor Ifeanyi OKOWA that resulted into the withdrawal of Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi from the race.
“The Campaign for Delta State Industrial Development by the Ubiomor Political Organization started about a year ago. In the course of the campaign, we joined the gubernatorial race of Delta State.
“This provided an opportunity to roll out the Delta State Industrial Development Master Plan (DIDMP) with an objective to create the enabling environment in Delta State to attract investments, industries and businesses to the State as to create jobs and wealth opportunities for our people.
“After State and Nationwide consultations the Ubiomor Political Organization decided to step down for Olorugun Kenneth Gbagi and merge force with his campaign on 27th March, 2022 with a shared vision of Delta State Industrial Development.
“Our expectations was a level playing ground in the PDP primaries from Gov. ifeanyi OKOWA and other stakeholders of Delta State but this was not served. Even with the several assurances from Governor Ifeanyi OKOWA that he will provide level field for free and fair Primaries, it turned out that he was only telling lies.
“His conduct in inviting the delegates to Government House Asaba and directed his aides to send out some persons is shameful sign of desperation to say the least and it is not expected from someone that some of us gave Supports to become Governor of Delta State for 8 years.
“The Ubiomor Campaign Organization sees our participation in the Delta State Governorship as a call to service and not a do or die affairs. We have said it severally that if only 10% of this desperation that is being exercised is committed to Industrial development, Delta State would have been better place for all.
“To this end, we want to call on the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party to carry out investigations on what happened between Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi and the aids of Governor Ifeanyi OKOWA in the meetings of delegates called by the Governor for quick resolution of the potential crisis this incident can cause”, he said
