A foremost governorship aspirant ahead of the governorship election in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, has reiterated his determination to become the next governor of th state come 2023.
“Nothing on this living planet, except God will stop me from becoming governor come 2023, all I seek from you is your support. This time, you owe yourself the duty to change the narrative. This is not a child’s play and we cannot use Delta State for experimental purposes.
Barr. Gbagi, stated this on Thursday April 8th 2021, when he paid a consultative visit to Idjerhe monarch, His Majesty, Monday Whiskey, Udurhie I, the Ovie of Idjerhe kingdom, Ethiope west local government area of the state.
The business tycoon and entrepreneur, said for him to allow anybody to contest the election, it shows that such a person has a more intimidating credentials than himself, stressing that he has looked among those coming for the election but has found none.
“With regards to this election, I am an interested party. The progress of this state is of interest and paramount interest of myself. I cannot go out of this State and people ask me where are you coming from.
He told the monarch and the multitude of Chiefs that he has clean records with Investments spread across the state and the country at large.
“For me to allow you to fly the governorship flag, then you have credentials that are better than mine. Show me such a person. If you allow a thief or someone on the wanted list of EFCC, he cannot lead”.
He called on them not to allow anyone to deceive them, assuring that when he is elected governor, he would not forget them.
In his remarks, the seasoned journalist who ascended the throne of his ancestors, charged the gubernatorial aspirant to go on wider consultation and be open to suggestions especially when they have superior arguments.
He assured the industrialist that his people are with him come rain, come shine, cautioning him against detractors, “First, he has come to pay Homage to be his royal father, he is maternally an Idjerhe person and he deemed it necessary to inform me of his governorship ambition.
“Like a father, I have counselled him and I have also advised him that one of the first things you will need to do is to ensure that you make wide and consistent consultation. I also told him that the media are institution that he can partner.
Meanwhile, Olorogun Gbagi, who addressed a large crowd of Idjerhe sons and daughters and teeming supporters who held him to a warm reception, expressed hope and desire to alleviate poverty.
“It is my hope and desire that I will alleviate poverty from our youths. We have reached the stage where a good number of our aged fathers and mothers have been deserted without help. It is part of our plans, programmes and by the grace of God, we will do something about it at the appropriate time.
“These young boys you are seeing, by the grace of God, I have removed them from the street”.
He appealed to delegates to use their power wisely, “search all of us, those who have what it takes to govern the state. We are working and together, we will fix the issues of the state”, he added.
