Ahead of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), governorship primary slated for Wednesday May 25th 2022, clandestine move by the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to foist the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, Okowa’s anointed aspirant, on the National Working Committee (NWC), of the party met brick walls.
The move was for Oborevwori to defend the discrepancies uncovered in the certificates he tendered to the Senator Diri Duoye-led Screening Committee.
It was learnt that Oborevwori could not defend the discrepancies which led to an end of the meeting till further notice in preparation for the primaries.
It was reliably gathered that the two Senior Advocates of Nigeria in the Appeal Committee pleaded for more time after Oborevwori failed again to defend the certificates.
The outcome of the exercise further exposed plans to impose Oborevwori on Deltans as many have lost faith in the process even when the governor assured Deltans of free, fair and credible primaries.
Members of the major opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC), are presently ambushing the state governor for possible mistakes of fielding the wrong choice of aspirant as the standard bearer of the party in order to take advantage of the loophole.
Unconfirmed rumour from the grapevine says that Okowa has allegedly released billions to tip any Judge within the state and possible the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to grant Oborevwori a legal reprieve to cover up the discrepancies to enable him contest the primaries of the party.
It was gathered that several judges have refused a mouth watering billions meant to purportedly bribe whoever is ready to play to the gallery.
It is no longer a secret that the panel in Port Harcourt was sharply divided and with so much pressure and green gift which led to Oborevwori’s clearance against the majority who kicked against Oborevwori’s clearance.
Douye Diri was quoted to have told members of the panel that he is a direct beneficiary of far less a criminal documentation such as the discrepancies uncovered in Oborevwori’s certificates, urging the national body to resist such move or loss the state to the opposition.
