The Catholic family in Delta State has taken the 2023 governorship aspiration of Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, as their project.
This was the hallmark of Friday October 22nd 2021, Requiem Mass for late Barr. (Chief), Mrs. Mary Iyasere, by Rev. Father Ekabo, at Saint Gregory Catholic Church, Orhoakpo, Ethiope east local government area of Delta State.
Father Ekabo, who did a little introduction of guests at the Church, during the Requiem, pointed out that Barr. Gbagi, is the only Catholic governorship aspirant in the State.
The Catholic priest, after introducing the National Chairman of Delta Central 2023 (DC 2023), Senator Ighoyota Amori and Barr. Kingsley Esiso, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), State Chairman, noted: “We have another of our own son, the only governorship aspirant from the Catholic Church. The Catholic family is behind him”.
With this declaration, the Catholic Church in the State, has openly shown the direction where their interest lies.
It would be recall that former governors of the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori and his cousin brother, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, were of the Baptist faith while the incumbent, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, is of the Anglican Communion.
Amongst all the aspirants, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, is the only Catholic governorship aspirant in the State gunning for the number seat come 2023.
Meanwhile, the Yoruba ethnic nationality in the state, has also shown solidarity and determination to support Olorogun Gbagi’s gubernatorial race.
According to the Yoruba nation living in the State, their desire to support the frontline governorship hopeful, Olorogun Gbagi, was borne out of his love for them.
They noted that the Aare Atunluse of Akure kingdom, a title Oba (Dr) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, the Deji of Akure kingdom, conferred on him for his passion and contribution to the overall development of the nation, attest to the fact that he is a grassroot politician whom they have come to identify with.
