Ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Delta State, thousands of Labour Party (LP) members and teeming supporters have rejected the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Ken Pela, for the frontline governorship candidate on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, as their choice for governor.

A top national leader for the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, is in the forefront of the exodus match in support of Olorogun Gbagi, a former minister of State for education who has no rival in the next year’s election.

The National leader who is also the Director of Peter Obi Movement/Campaign Team in the state, has directed that all the 25 Local Government Areas (LGA) executives and all the Wards to dissolve into SDP with immediate effect.

The decision for Labour Party to move to SDP, a Social Movement with so much support from the Church, market associations, youths, professionals, artisans and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), is the fact that the flag bearer of LP, Ken Pela, is unpopular and lacks what it takes to win election in the state.

This again gives credence to the fact that God’s own project need no struggle to succeed. When God said it is your turn, no man can say no as God would always favor His own.

This is the story of the SDP gubernatorial candidate in Delta State, a former Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, a legal luminary and largest private investor in the state, Olorogun Gbagi FNIM, as the entire members of Labour Party are been led to join forces with him to liberate Delta State.

Corroborating Labour Party’s position, Gbagi, while addressing the Bishop of the Diocese of Sapele, Anglican Communion, Christ Church PRO-CATHEDRAL, The Most Rev’d Blessing Erifeta, Venerables and clergymen, a force to reckon with hinted: “A supporter of Labour Party came with Bishops to have breakfast with me. He is not a Bishop but came with Bishops.

“He demanded to be allowed to speak. He said I coordinate Peter Obi’s campaign in America and Nigeria. He said did you see the rally of Obi in Agbor? Some of you saw it in a video, it was bees.

“He said we have decided that we will vote Peter Obi for president but all Peter Obi’s followers have rejected the so-called governorship candidate of Labour party in Delta state.

“We will vote for you. It is no longer party, people are looking for who has the capacity to deliver in Delta state”, he said.
