APC Big Shots, Others Dumped Party For PDP

Ahead of the 2023 governorship race in Delta State heavy weights in the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), have dumped the party for the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

The state Administrative Secretary of APC, Ogbueshi Barry Dunkwu, the Oshimili North Organizing Secretary, Ogbueshi Dr. Patrick Okonkwo and other members of the party cross carpeted recently.

They were received into the PDP by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, who was flanked by the Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Isaac Anwuzia, and the Oshimili North PDP Chairman, Chief Nduka Ogwuda, during Ward 9, Oshimili North PDP, meeting held in Okpanam on Thursday.

Speaking during the ceremony, Chief Ukah welcomed them into the party, observing that some of them were original members of the PDP that left for one reason or the other but was glad that they are back to the party.

He used the opportunity to call on Cell Chairmen to regularly hold meetings to strategize since the Cells house the Units that are important platforms during the conduct of elections.

The SSG told the gathering not to be in a hurry to support any Governorship candidate for the 2023 election but wait for the leaders of the party in the state to take a decision that will be communicated to them appropriately.

On his own part, Chief Anwuzia assured the decampees of their rights in the party noting that there will be no form of discrimination against any of them as all party members have equal rights.

Also speaking during the occasion, Chief Ogwuda expressed happiness over the development stressing that over time, he was confident that the APC members will decamp to the PDP.

The ceremony featured the tearing of their APC membership cards and the burning of brooms, the symbol of the APC.
