In the quest for effective representation of the good people of Ika nation at the Federal House of Representatives, a new pressure group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Hon. Obi Monye, former chairman, Ika North East Local Government Area of the party, has called on the onetime member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Doris Uboh to re-contest.
Addressing newsmen after an enlarged maiden meeting of Otu-Kama on Saturday, March 19, 2022, Hon. Monye said the pressure group stands for Hon. Uboh who according to them has all it takes to represent the people at any level and deliver democratic dividends just as she has done it in the past.
“For equity and fairness, it is the turn of Ika South LGA to produce the next House of Representatives member because it has been turn by turn between Ika North East and Ika South.
“Uboh, from Ika South is the right choice for the position having been there and delivered democratic dividends to the people.
“Therefore, it would amount to injustice for Ika North East to keep producing House of Reps member knowing fully well that the position belongs to two LGA’s.
“Hence, for equity and fairness, it is the turn of Ika South LGA to give them a sense of belonging.
“Uboh can do it again by representing us to make Ika nation proud. I well recall that the borehole drilled by Uboh when she first represented Ika in 2007 is still functioning unlike what obtains today when government representatives dig borehole, yet no water.
“Those who are championing Ika North East person to contest again for House of Reps having been there for twelve years are not patriotic persons. Let it rotate”, Hon. Monye called.
On her part, the APC Senatorial Woman Leader, Chief Mrs. Onyeisi Ochei agitated that it is the turn of a woman to take over the House of Reps seat and for equity and fairness; she must come from Ika South LGA, most importantly to give women a sense of belonging.
In her words, “The choice of Uboh to represent us in the Federal House Representatives is the right choice because she has been tested and trusted to keep up her good work”, she said.
