The World Health Organization (WHO) has commended Kaduna State for its high level of preparedness in the ongoing December 2025 Polio Immunisation Exercise being conducted across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
The commendation was given by the WHO State Coordinator, Dr. Abede Mohammed, following his assessment of a community road show organised by the Journalists Initiative on Immunisation Against Polio (JAP) in the Kawo community of Kaduna North Local Government Area.
Dr. Mohammed noted that all critical requirements for the immunisation exercise, including vaccines, logistics, and adequately trained health personnel, were fully in place before the commencement of the campaign, reflecting strong planning and coordination by the state.
He described the road show as a strategic advocacy initiative designed to mobilise communities and raise awareness about the importance of polio vaccination, adding that the effort was timely and impactful in supporting the success of the exercise.
According to him, real-time data from the WHO dashboard indicates that the immunisation campaign is progressing smoothly across Kaduna State, with impressive coverage and strong community compliance recorded so far.
While commending the Kaduna State Government and health workers at all levels for their commitment, Dr. Mohammed also praised JAP for its contribution to public enlightenment and community engagement through the road show.
However, he urged all Local Government Areas in the state to ensure the prompt release of their counterpart funding, stressing that adequate financing remains critical for effective supervision, monitoring, and the overall success of the immunisation exercise.
In his remarks, the District Head of Kawo, Alhaji Jibrin Mohammed Magaji, called on parents and caregivers to present their children for the polio vaccination, emphasising its importance to the health and well-being of children.
Speaking through the Village Head, Alhaji Dahiru Yahaya, the District Head also commended the WHO, the Kaduna State Government, and other development partners for their sustained commitment to addressing public health issues with the seriousness they deserve
