UPDATE: Police Confirm Release Of Pastor Onyemaechi, aka Ada Anioma

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the release of the kidnapped former Commissioner for Technical Education, Pastor Joan Onyemaechi, who was kidnapped in Asaba, the State capital last Tuesday 30th August 2024.

The Story reports that Pastor Onyemaechi, a former House of Representatives member, was whisked in a Commando style from her Church, King Jesus and I, off DBS Road, Asaba, a day to the swearing in of six Commissioners and six Special Advisers by the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, who confirmed the development to The Story, however, could not say if any ransom was paid for the release of the kidnap victims or not.

As at the time of reporting, the Police spokesperson also did not provide details of how the victims regained their freedom but promised to give details.

However, it was gathered that it was of a result of combined efforts of the Military, Police, hunters and vigilantes that led to the rescue operation.
