…hails stakeholders’ meeting as turning point in state’s political history

Chief of Staff to Senator Ned Nwoko, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has described unity and internal cohesion as the strongest pillars of success for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Dr. Nwoko made the remark while speaking to journalists shortly after the Delta State APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Asaba, noting that the gathering marked “a turning point in Delta politics” and a renewed commitment to collaboration across the state’s political blocs.

According to him, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, who played a key strategic role during the meeting, delivered a powerful message centered on teamwork, reconciliation, and collective purpose.

“Senator Ned Nwoko was very clear in his message,” Dr. Nwoko stated. “He called on all leaders across Delta North and the entire state to embrace unity and sincerity of purpose.

“Let unity begin from our wards, local governments, and senatorial zones. His words were not mere political rhetoric, they were a call to action for transformative leadership.”

He disclosed that Senator Nwoko also reaffirmed his total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s second-term ambition, stressing that both leaders symbolize stability, inclusion, and sustainable development.

“The Senator called for genuine reconciliation among key leaders, especially in Delta North,” Dr. Nwoko added. “He believes peace and collaboration will deepen the momentum of victory for APC stakeholders in the next electoral cycle.”

The meeting, which drew high-profile APC figures from across the three senatorial districts, was widely seen as a major step in consolidating the party’s influence following a series of landmark defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) earlier this year.

Political observers have noted that the political landscape in Delta shifted significantly in 2025, following the defection of Senator Ned Nwoko in January, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in April, and other top political leaders including former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. For the first time since 1999, all three senators representing Delta State now belong to the APC.

Reflecting on this new reality, Dr. Nwoko described the development as “the dawn of a new political chapter in Delta State.”

“This is not just a political alignment; it is a strategic repositioning,” he said.

“Team spirit is not a slogan, it is a necessity. What we need now is to guard this momentum with sincerity, discipline, and collective resolve. As Senator Nwoko has said, defection must not be cosmetic, it must be transformative.”

Dr. Nwoko further emphasized that unity across ethnic lines, including Anioma, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Isoko, and Ijaw, is essential not only for electoral victory but also for achieving Delta’s broader developmental aspirations.

He highlighted Senator Nwoko’s leadership in advancing the creation of Anioma State, describing it as a historic quest for equity, representation, and regional balance.

“Senator Nwoko is leading by example,” Dr. Nwoko stated. “Through projects in road construction, dam rehabilitation, solar electrification, and skill empowerment for youths and women, he continues to demonstrate what sincerity of purpose looks like in action. This is the model the APC must replicate across all zones.”

Dr. Nwoko added that Delta is positioning itself as a political pacesetter in the South-South, with Senator Nwoko at the forefront of efforts to build unity, equity, and prosperity.

The stakeholders’ meeting, convened by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, was attended by prominent APC leaders including former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa,

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas (Delta South), Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central), Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Omeni Sobotie, Delta North APC Chairman, Adizue Eluaka, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other senior party figures.

“The message from this meeting is clear,” Dr. Nwoko concluded. “Unity remains the best strategy. With genuine cooperation and shared purpose, the APC in Delta State will not only win elections, it will define the next chapter of governance and development.”
