Umuawa Alaocha Agog As Community Celebrates Annual Ekpe Festival

Amidst colorful fanfare, the people of Umuawa Alaocha, Umuahia north local government area of Abia State, celebrated her annual Ekpe cultural heritage.

The village square and country home of business tycoon, philanthropist and politician, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don-Lulu, was a beehive of activities.

It was a gathering of family, friends, associates, community leaders, masquerades and cultural groups in the celebration.

The UN Mayor of peace, who is a strong advocate of his people’s culture ensured there was sufficient to eat and drink with many of the delighted guests portraying him as a man who looks out for the interest of others

The Ekpe masquerade festival is peculiar to Umuahia people and environs.

It is celebrated in the last month of the year and the first quarter of the new year.
