President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated a high-powered All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation, in a renewed effort to strengthen internal cohesion and unity within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration, which took place on Wednesday in Lagos, reflects the President’s commitment to inclusiveness, stability, and sustained party harmony.

The committee comprises serving APC governors, members of the Federal Executive Council, and other key party stakeholders.
Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed Chairman of the committee, while former APC National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, will serve as Member/Secretary.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is among the distinguished members of the committee, underscoring his growing national profile and the confidence reposed in his leadership within the party.

Other members include Senator Adamu Aliero; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; and Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), and Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti).

Also appointed to the committee are Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers); Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello; and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.

Speaking at the event, Governor Buni thanked President Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence placed in the committee, assuring that its mandate would be executed with diligence, responsibility, and unwavering commitment to party unity.

He explained that the committee would embark on extensive consultations and strategic engagements to develop a comprehensive, result-oriented framework aimed at promoting inclusion, addressing grievances, and strengthening party cohesion.

“The committee will undertake broad consultations to develop an all-encompassing, productive, and sustainable strategy.

Our goal is to ensure that all members, especially those who feel aggrieved, have a sense of belonging and renewed hope within the party,” Buni said.

He added that proactive steps would be taken to identify and address potential threats to unity, urging members to prioritise the collective interest of the APC above personal considerations.

President Tinubu had earlier stressed the importance of unity within the party during the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Friday, December 19, at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

He reminded party leaders that the APC was founded on progressive ideals, broad participation, and respect for diverse views.

“We must remain resolute that the democracy we hold in our hands must not fail. If we say we are bigger and stronger, it must be reflected in our capacity to accommodate others. Tolerance is the key to resilience,” the President said.

The inauguration of the committee signals a renewed push by the APC leadership to consolidate internal harmony and strengthen its organisational structure as preparations for future electoral contests gather momentum.
