The PDP merely two days ago, slammed a one month suspension on the senator who doubles as the Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for alleged anti-party activities.
However, turning the suspension useless and a mere paperwork, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday June 25th 2021, in Abuja welcomed Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi to the All Progressives Congress, after he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying “you are welcome to the progressives family”.
A press statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said: “Sen. Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North District, Delta State, was presented to President Buhari and National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) at the State House by Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.
“The Deputy Senate President said Senator Nwaoboshi’s decision to join the APC clearly shows that the effort of the CECPC was yielding fruit. The Senator was warmly welcomed by party members.
It would be recall that on Wednesday June 23rd, 2021, the PDP slammed a one month suspension on Nwaoboshi, saying, “recent romance with an opposition Party, verbal recklessness, and unprovoked utterances of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, particularly against the person of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State, which the PDP State Working Committee views strongly as totally unacceptable, disturbing and unbecoming of a politician and party member of his stature”.
