The much talked about purported amnesty to be granted to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, may have been thrown to the wind.
This is coming on the heels of a fresh comment credited to the Director General the Department of Security Service (DSS) Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi.
It would be recall that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari said that he would consider the request of Igbo leaders to grants the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu amnesty.
But in another post by the DSS Director, reads: “Nnamdi Kanu’s case is a very serious one and must not be toyed with. We are very much careful in handling this case because is not a mere issue that can be overlooked.
“What the court is asking us to do isn’t proper that is why we have to be careful about the ruling of the court which has mandated us to transfer the leader of the proscribed terrorist group IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu to Kuje prison.
“There has been lots of casualties recently in most of the prisons in Nigeria which has led to the escape of most wanted terrorists and criminals in the country and we wouldn’t want such to happen in the case of Kanu.
“It’s obvious IPOB terrorists has been planning on how to break the jail and make way for Kanu to escape ones he’s transferred to the prison. As Intelligent Officers, we’ve gotten the signal and that is why Kanu must remain in our custody until the court determines his fate”.
