The Coalition of APC Youth Groups in Taraba North Senatorial District has called on Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, to urgently dissolve his cabinet and constitute a more inclusive executive team that accommodates both old and new members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
In a statement signed by the coalition’s leader, Ibrahim Bambur, the group alleged that certain forces within the administration, including some cabinet members, are frustrating efforts by the governor to restructure his team due to fears of losing their positions.
The coalition further demanded that key offices, including Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Head of Service (HoS), and Chief of Staff (CoS), should be filled by members of the “old APC bloc” in the interest of party balance and inclusivity.
According to the group, the current cabinet is plagued by inexperience, which it claims has resulted in financial recklessness, nepotism, and tribal bias.
It warned that failure to carry out a comprehensive cabinet reshuffle could erode the credibility of the Kefas administration.
The youth coalition also advised the governor to disengage long-serving political actors and avoid what it described as the patronage of “self-serving stakeholders” who allegedly exploit state resources without delivering measurable results.
Expressing concern over the distribution of projects, the group claimed there was a disproportionate allocation, alleging 95 per cent to Southern Taraba, five per cent to the Central Zone, and none to Taraba North, a trend it said could negatively affect the APC’s prospects in the 2027 general elections.
“We cannot support a government that marginalizes our senatorial district. We urge Governor Kefas to urgently address these concerns or face the political consequences,” Bambur warned.
The coalition described the continued retention of the cabinet as a sign of weak leadership and urged the governor to assert his authority in the broader interest of the state.
It emphasized that inclusivity and diversity in governance remain critical to sustainable development, noting that a broadly representative cabinet would accelerate progress across Taraba State.
The group also called on the governor to prioritize merit and competence in appointments rather than loyalty and patronage, insisting that only capable hands can deliver meaningful results.
While alleging instances of corruption and mismanagement within the current cabinet and calling for accountability, the coalition nonetheless commended Governor Kefas for efforts aimed at attracting investment and stimulating economic growth.
However, it stressed that more decisive action is required in tackling poverty, inequality, and infrastructure deficits.
The coalition urged the administration to prioritize infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and job creation to improve the living standards of Tarabans.
“We are watching and will hold the government accountable because the people of Taraba State deserve better,” Bambur stated.
