Suspected Fulani herdsmen have killed at least five persons, including a father and his son in a renewed attack on Tse Udeghe community, Mbakpa Council Ward and Ahumen community in Gwer west local government area of Benue State.

The attack which occurred Thursday night through to Friday morning triggered tension in the affected communities.

It was gathered that the assailants who invaded the community in large numbers with sophisticated weapons, also burnt down several houses as most residents took refuge in Naka the headquarters of the Local Government.

The Gwer West Council Chairman, Mrs. Grace Igbabon who confirmed the development, lamented the sudden influx of herdsmen into the communities from neighbouring Nasarawa State.

She called on security agencies in the state to treat the bloodthirsty men as terrorists and ensure that normalcy returns to the affected areas.

However, when contacted by DAILY POST, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene said the command was yet to be informed on the development.
