Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has been honoured with the prestigious 2025 Governance Accountability and Transparency Index (GATI) Award by the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers (GOMEP), Nigeria, in recognition of his administration’s outstanding achievements in governance, transparency, and public service delivery.
The award presentation, which took place at Government House, Awka, marked a highlight of GOMEP’s two-day media evaluation tour of Anambra State as part of its nationwide governance performance assessment across Nigeria’s 36 states.
Leading the national delegation, GOMEP National President, Dr. Dozie, and National Secretary, Mr. Otiti Akpovoke, were joined by a ten-member team of senior editors and media publishers drawn from across the country.
The Guild, comprising over 65 accredited online editors and publishers, is conducting an independent performance audit to identify and celebrate top-performing state governments based on the GATI criteria.
Presenting the award, GOMEP spokesperson and publisher of Naija News House, Comrade Dominic Edem, explained that the visit was part of a comprehensive evaluation campaign aimed at encouraging good governance through evidence-based assessments.
“We are touring all 36 states and will highlight the top ten based on measurable impact, transparency, service delivery, and citizen engagement. Anambra has shown remarkable progress under Governor Soludo’s leadership,” Edem stated.
In his acceptance remarks, Governor Soludo expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a reflection of the hard work and dedication of his administration and people of Anambra State.
“This award affirms our commitment to building a livable and prosperous homeland. It is not just for me, but for the entire team working tirelessly to implement the Anambra transformation agenda. I thank GOMEP for its professional and unbiased evaluation,” Soludo said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering focus on transparency, fiscal prudence, and inclusive governance, noting that such independent recognitions strengthen public trust and reinforce the government’s resolve to deliver quality service to its citizens.
It is worth noting that Governor Soludo was among the top ten nominees for the 2024 GATI Governance Performance Award, based on last year’s national governance report.
Anambra’s consistent rise on the GATI index further solidifies its reputation as a model for responsible governance and development-focused leadership in Nigeria.
GOMEP concluded the visit by reiterating its commitment to promoting accountability, citizen-focused leadership, and data-driven evaluations across the public sector.
“Through the GATI project, we aim to foster a culture of excellence and integrity in public service by spotlighting leaders who are truly delivering value to their people,” Edem added.
The tour is expected to culminate in a national summit where the final top 10 GATI-rated governors will be formally celebrated later this year
