The Delte State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat along Anwai road, Asaba, was turned into a boxing rig as faction allegedly loyal to the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ovie Omo-Agage and supporters of the party’s governorship candidate in the 2019 election, Chief Great Ogboru, fought dirty over alleged removal of some party ward chairmen across the state.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to Omo-Agage, Barr. Alex Onwuadimu, APC Chairman, Oshimili south local government area, Ben Onwuka and scores of party faithful were purportedly beaten while some sustained injuries.

Both factions were in their elements, fierces and uncontrollable, fighting themselves with plastic table and chairs. Security personnel were helpless as the chairs were flying in the air, and many including the APC State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Prophet Jones-Ode Erue, allegedly scamppered for safety.

Some persons were whisked away through the back door as the fight became uncontrollable as those beaten had their shirt allegedly torn, and ran away half naked.

Party members loyal to Chief Ogboru who were visibly angry with Erue for purportedly abandoning the “Consent judgement list” from the party national secretariat, Abuja, which was also upheld by the Supreme Court, started calling for the removal of Erue, “before he kill APC in Delta”.

Ogboru’s loyalists who were disturbed over the actions exibited by the Omo-Agage faction, could not swallow it as fight broke out which resulted to the abrupt stopage of the re-registration excercise.

It was reliable gathered that Chief Ogboru had petitioned the National body of the party, calling for the removal of the Jones Erue.

Shortly after the fight, Mr Ben. Ownuka, Chairman Oshimili south who was beaten, said he was “constitutionally  elected” but now they are putting names of those who did attend congress.

Ownuka said: “some of us see it as illegal and revolt. And that is what cause the fight. They should do the right thing, this is a political party and not personal party. I couldn’t bear it, so I have to  fight it out with them”.

Speaking further, he said: “All the people calling themselves leaders do not have any background, instead of showing what make them to be leaders, they are only there to shortchange people and not canvassing for people to join in the registration.

“What happened at our party secretariat was a fight for illegality, in the sense that the state chairman, Jones Erue and his cohorts removed the names of chairmen who were dully elected and replaced them with his boys who are not part faithful”, he alleged.
