Senator Nwoko Tops Senate List Of High-Performing Senators

In an outstanding display of legislative excellence, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has been ranked among the most impactful lawmakers in the 10th Senate.

A recent report from the Senate leadership highlights Senator Nwoko as one of the Senators with the highest number of bills among the 109 members.

The report, titled “Summary of the Senate Amendment Bills under the 10th Senate of the National Assembly,” reveals that Senator Nwoko sponsored five bills out of approximately 30 deliberated upon by the Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution.

Notably, his bill advocating for the creation of Anioma State was the sole proposal of its kind listed for consideration, reflecting the significance attached to his legislative efforts.

Other key themes he addressed in the constitutional review include diaspora voting, a parliamentary system of government, local government autonomy, and emergency medical aid.

Since his inauguration on June 13, 2023, Senator Nwoko has sponsored a remarkable 27 bills and 20 motions, positioning him as one of the most active members of the Senate.

He has also earned recognition as a vocal advocate on critical national issues, offering insightful contributions on topics such as security, electricity, water resources, oil theft, environmental degradation, gas flaring, economic revival, social welfare, and entrepreneurship for sustainable growth.

Beyond the Senate chambers, Senator Nwoko has championed development projects across Delta North’s three federal constituencies—Aniocha/Oshimili, Ika, and Ndokwa/Ukwuani.

These projects include a sports facility in Issele-Uku, solar-powered boreholes in Umunede and Idumuje-Ugboko, and solar streetlight installations in Idumuje-Unor, Onicha-Ugbo, Asaba, and Kwale.

Additionally, he has facilitated the construction of a 2-kilometer road and the renovation of a police station in Idumuje-Ugboko.

He also intervened in the rehabilitation of failed sections of the Benin-Asaba expressway, completing repairs in critical areas such as Ezenei, Okwe, Ubulu-Okoti, and Igbodo.

Over 2,000 individuals have benefitted from his skill acquisition and empowerment programs, which aim to enhance employment opportunities, wealth creation, and healthcare services in the region.

Last year, Senator Nwoko, widely regarded as a detribalized leader, played a pivotal role in securing the release of His Royal Majesty (HRM), Clement Ikolo, the traditional ruler of Ewu Urhobo-Kingdom, detained during the aftermath of the Okuama crisis in Ughelli south local government area of Delta State on March 14, 2024.
