Senator Nwoko Joins Delta Delegation as Party Charts Strategic Course At APC 14th NEC Meeting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) held its 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, assembling top party leaders and stakeholders to deliberate on the party’s strategic direction ahead of key political engagements.

Representing Delta State at the high-level meeting was Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, the distinguished Senator for Delta North, who was among only 21 senators accredited for participation in the NEC session.

Other prominent attendees from the state included Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Deputy Senate President Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, APC State Chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie, and party chieftain Stella Okotete.

The NEC meeting marked a pivotal point in the APC’s ongoing internal review and repositioning efforts, with a strong focus on enhancing party structures in anticipation of the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election and other imminent bye-elections.

The party’s National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, presented what he termed a “comprehensive compendium” from the Directorate of Organization, which is expected to inform policy and strategic decisions going forward.

One of the most significant outcomes of the meeting was the appointment of Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the new National Chairman of the APC.

His nomination, moved by Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and unanimously ratified through a voice vote by NEC members.

As the APC gears up for increased political activity in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections, analysts view the active participation of sitting lawmakers, many of whom are likely to return to the ballot, as a sign of internal cohesion and renewed commitment to party unity.

Senator Nwoko’s presence at the NEC meeting underscores his rising profile within national party structures and his continued involvement in shaping Nigeria’s political discourse.

The full list of accredited senators at the meeting includes: Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin; Senate Majority Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele; Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Tahir Mungono; Deputy Majority Leader Oyelola Yisa Ashiru; Deputy Chief Whip Nwebonyi Onyeka; Mustapha Salihu; Sani Bello Abubakar; Ibrahim Bomai; Jim Kuta.

Others were Aliyu Wamako; Abdul’aziz Yar’adua; Ned Munir Nwoko; Patrick Ndubueze Chuwuba; Kenneth Eze; Fadahunsi Francis Adenigba; Adams Oshiomhole; Abdulfatai Buhari; Asuquo Ekpenyong; Adeola Solomon Olamilekan; and Etang Williams Jonah.

The gathering not only reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to strategic planning and leadership renewal but also signaled a coordinated approach to consolidating its base ahead of future electoral challenges.
