Senator Ned Nwoko has paid a heartfelt tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, hailing him as a statesman of exceptional integrity whose enduring legacy will remain a cornerstone in Nigeria’s political and ethical evolution.
In a statement released on Thursday, Senator Nwoko expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former Nigerian leader, describing him as a figure who embodied selfless service, simplicity, and unwavering discipline.
Leading a condolence visit to Daura, President Buhari’s hometown, Senator Nwoko was accompanied by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, alongside other prominent members of the National Assembly.
The delegation visited the late president’s family to offer condolences and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
“We sought Almighty Allah’s mercy and forgiveness on his behalf. May he be granted Aljannah Firdaus,” Senator Nwoko said.
The team also visited the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, to extend their sympathies to the Daura Emirate over the loss of one of its most illustrious sons.
“President Buhari was a man of honour and humility, who served Nigeria with uncommon discipline and a deep sense of duty,” Nwoko remarked.
The condolence visit concluded at the Katsina State Government House, where the delegation met with Governor Dikko Umar Radda.
Senator Nwoko conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, describing Buhari’s death as a national tragedy.
“President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, was a statesman of rare integrity whose contributions to Nigeria’s governance and moral compass will remain indelible,” he stated.
He prayed for comfort and strength for the bereaved family and the entire nation.
“May Allah console his family and grant peace to our nation during this time of mourning. Ameen,” he added.
The passing of President Muhammadu Buhari has sparked an outpouring of tributes from across Nigeria and the global community, recognizing his pivotal role in shaping the country’s democratic journey.
