Senator Nwoko Clarifies Role In Idumuje Ugboko Kidnap Rescue, Reaffirms Commitment To Constituents’ Safety

Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has clarified his role in the recent rescue of a kidnapping victim in Idumuje Ugboko, stressing that his primary concern was the safety of his constituents.

In a press statement on Saturday, the lawmaker explained that his intervention was prompted by a direct call from the victim’s father, who reached out alongside two members of the Idumuje Ugboko community and the victim’s brothers.

Responding swiftly, Senator Nwoko mobilized resources and engaged multiple security channels to secure the victim’s safe release.

“I took whatever steps I considered necessary to ensure the matter was resolved safely,” Nwoko said, underscoring his proactive response.

According to him, he immediately contacted the police in Issele-Uku and Asaba, enlisted the support of the Idumuje Ugboko Vigilante Group, and maintained direct communication with police operatives in Asaba.

He further disclosed that he received real-time updates on tracking and coordinated closely with security agents until the kidnappers were apprehended.

Addressing concerns about overlapping efforts, Senator Nwoko noted that it is common for different agencies, groups, and individuals to act simultaneously in crisis situations, often without knowledge of one another’s involvement.

“That was precisely the case here,” he explained, while commending the contributions of human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, the military, the police, and local operatives who also played key roles in the rescue.

“Kidnapping is a serious crime, and my only concern is always to ensure that lives are saved and communities are safer,” he emphasized.

The senator’s clarification follows social media discussions sparked by his earlier comments on the incident. His statement highlights not only his personal intervention but also the collaborative efforts that led to the victim’s safe return.

Community members have since expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the rescue, with many commending Senator Nwoko’s swift response and hands-on leadership.

As Delta North continues to face security challenges, Senator Nwoko reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains a central priority of his legislative agenda
