Delta North to Benefit from Landmark Federal Interventions in Road Infrastructure

In a major boost to infrastructure development in Delta and Anambra States, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the official flag-off of the construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge (Phase 2A, Contract No. 8792) and the reconstruction of the dilapidated Asaba-Benin Expressway.

The Senator described these initiatives as “strategic milestones” that will stimulate economic growth, improve transportation, and enhance national cohesion.

In a public congratulatory message, Senator Nwoko hailed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to economic integration and infrastructural renewal, noting that the two projects are of immense importance not only to the South-South and South-East regions but to the entire nation.

“The Asaba-Benin Expressway has long been a source of severe hardship for commuters and businesses due to its poor condition,” Nwoko stated.

“As the Senator representing Delta North, I have persistently advocated for urgent intervention and am pleased to see these efforts, supported by the leadership’s responsiveness, now bearing fruit with the projects included in the national budget.”

Nwoko highlighted the pivotal role of the Senate Committee on Works, where he serves as a member, in reinforcing the urgency of rehabilitating federal roads. Under Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the Senate passed a resolution mandating the maintenance and reconstruction of federal roads nationwide.

Expressing deep appreciation for the timely intervention, Nwoko remarked, “Given the country’s current fiscal realities, we are grateful that our region is among the first to receive this critical infrastructure investment.”

The Senator also praised the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr.) David Nweze Umahi, for his “hands-on approach and unwavering dedication to delivering quality infrastructure across the country,” noting that projects of national importance have received deserved attention under his watch.

“These projects will not only connect Delta, Anambra, Edo, and neighboring states but will also stimulate commercial activities and alleviate transportation burdens,” Nwoko added. “This is a collective triumph for our region.”

Senator Nwoko reaffirmed his commitment to championing initiatives that uplift his constituents and drive sustainable development.

“I look forward to continued collaboration with President Tinubu’s administration to advance more transformative projects for the benefit of our people.”

He concluded by extending “deepest gratitude” to President Tinubu for his leadership and unwavering dedication to national progress.
