Operatives of the Taraba State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian military, have successfully rescued five kidnapped victims who were abducted by unknown gunmen at Kasuwan Shanu, along the Wukari–Zaki Biam road, on October 2, 2025.
According to a statement by the Command, the rescue followed a credible distress call reporting that a red Toyota Carina II with registration number BSA 766AE, driven by one Terna Gbaya of Zaki-Biam, and conveying seven passengers, was intercepted by armed men who forced the occupants out of the vehicle and marched them into the bush.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Wukari Division, swiftly mobilized a joint police-military team to the scene.
The team pursued the kidnappers into the forest, a move that forced the abductors to release five of their captives.
The rescued victims were identified as:
Musa Adamu, male, from Tella, Gassol LGA, Taraba State
Rose Sor, female, from Kwande LGA, Benue State
Lydia Vyiashima, female, from Kwanshishi LGA, Benue State
Terna Gbaya, male, from Zaki-Biam, Benue State
Comfort Iyofar, female, from Wukari LGA, Taraba State
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, ASP James Lashen Saminu, confirmed the incident, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and rescue the remaining victims still in captivity.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Command, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan, commended the gallant officers for their swift response and professionalism.
She assured residents that the Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
