Police Foil Kidnap Attempt Of Four Months Old Baby, Arrest Suspect

A 25-year-old kidnap suspect, who pretended to be a motorcycle operator popularly known as Okada, identified as Ikechukwu Odoh, of Ehamifu, Isuzo local government area of Enugu State, has been arrested by the police in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Haruna Mohammed, disclosed that his arrest followed a distress call on 28 February 2021, at about 9:30pm, at Okpunoeze Uruagu, Nnewi.

Odoh, under false pretence of being an okada rider allegedly went into a compound and attempted to snatch a four month- old baby girl, Success Odeh, from her mother.

The mother resisted and screamed for help which attracted the attention of the neighbours who in conjunction with local vigilante assisted the police in arresting the suspect.

The image maker said the case is under investigation to ascertain the motive behind such act after which the suspect would be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Monday Bala Kuryas, has enjoined the public to be wary of strangers or suspicious movements in their neigbourhood  and always monitor their children in order to avert similar incident.
