The Osun state government has denied any form of harassment and molestation melted out on any officer of the Osun State Command of the Federal Fire Service.
This is coming on the backdrop of a purported molestation on citizens and an officer of the Federal Fire Service, who was on an essential service to battle a fire outbreak at Ilesha axis of the state.
The Special Adviser (SA), to the Governor on Security, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, who debunked the rumoured fire outbreak and molestation of the officer, said, she was trying to find her way illegally when she was halted by the State Taskforce.
According to the SA, “We have seen the story published on the Facebook page of the Osun Command of the Federal Fire Service, alleging that officers who were on a rescue mission were denied entry into Ilesha town to perform their Civic duties, despite identifying themselves and using an official vehicle.
“We wish to place on record that there was no fire incident anywhere in Ilesha today that could have warranted any rescue mission.
“The female Officer in question was driving in her personal car from Osogbo to Ilesha on a personal mission, through the Osunjela boundary. In a bid to circumvent the Task Force, she lied about a non-existing fire incident”.
Speaking further, Mrs. Abiodun said: “We called the Police Command in Ilesha and the Commissioner for Home Affairs, whilst at Osunjela, and we were rightly informed that there was no fire incident.
“After her claims had been debunked, she called for reinforcement but the State’s Task Force did not budge upon the discovery that she had no essential service she was going to render in Ilesha.
“We also wish to place on record that there was neither official vehicle nor fire service truck at the scene. The officer drove in her personal car, although she was in her uniform, which she wanted to use to get a passage.
“There was neither compromise of any form by the Officers of the Task Force nor molestation of any resident, pedestrian or driver, as alleged.
“It is unfortunate that despite working against the safety of the State, the Officers of the Osun Command of the Federal Fire Service have also resorted to misleading the public through unfounded allegations.
“We wish to reiterate that the government of the State of Osun has ordered a total lockdown of four local government areas of the State: Ilesha East, Ilesha West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West”.
She warned that the state government would not condone any reckless movement, especially by those who claim to be on essential duties but only use it as a license to violate government’s orders.
