Immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his economic reforms, describing them as bold, tough, but necessary measures to stabilize and reposition Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth.
Speaking on Sunday at the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Government House, Asaba, Okowa noted that while the reforms had brought temporary discomfort to citizens, they were already laying a solid foundation for long-term national prosperity.
According to him, “Every meaningful reform comes with initial pains, but those pains pave the way for lasting progress. What we are witnessing today is the beginning of a stronger, more resilient economy.
“I am confident that with patience, unity, and faith, the sacrifices Nigerians are making will soon yield visible results and prosperity for all.”
The former governor applauded the growing sense of cohesion within the Delta APC and lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the State Chairman of the party, Chief Omeni Sobotie, for promoting inclusiveness and reconciliation across the state.
“I am truly delighted to be part of this gathering. I must commend His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and our party chairman for their leadership and bridge-building efforts. Since our entry into the APC on April 28, 2025, Delta has taken the right political step forward,” Okowa stated.
He also praised local government party leaders for embracing new members and strengthening the unity of the party, emphasizing that collective effort and loyalty were crucial ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The 2027 general election is not about whether the APC will win — victory is certain but about the size of the mandate we will deliver. Delta must make a strong statement of support for President Tinubu and our Governor,” he said.
Senator Okowa urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilization and take the message of unity, loyalty, and participation back to their wards and communities.
He further commended APC leaders across the three senatorial districts for their maturity and reconciliation efforts, describing Governor Oborevwori’s leadership as divinely ordained and the state’s realignment with the APC as both timely and strategic.
