… as Speaker’s mouthpiece seek synergy with journalists
The Executive Assistant (EA), to the Delta State Governor on Media, Comrade Norbert Chiazor has described the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as a promise keeper.
He said the governor has so much respect for journalists and would not let them down, stressing that the governor loves and appreciate what the media was doing in the State.
The Executive Assistant stated this Thursday 16, May 2024, during the Indigenous Correspondents’ Chapel (ICC) Mirror Platform at the Chapel’s monthly Congress.
“His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as Governor of Delta State, loves you and appreciates your enormous support and understanding to his government.
“He is a promise keeper and never an ungrateful person; he will reward you for your labour of love and sincerity of purpose towards his government.
“For journalists, it may also interest you to know, that in the last election, I am sure, that all of us can attest to the fact that, the present leadership of the State Council, came through free, fair and credible elections.
“That election was one of the frest we have ever had in the history of our nation. But I will tell you the story behind that election. We had a free, fair election, because a governor that is de-tribalized, accommodating and God-fearing is on seat. In the nick of our elections for the NUG, there were pressures.
“So you see, I am really very excited. So, our election succeeded
because of the remarkable non-interference of the governor.
There were pressures from various quarters, the traditional institutions and even people among us. But the governor said, let the best candidate emerge. I think that is something worth applauding.
“He said, let the best candidate emerge that he is not interested in who becomes the NUJ chairman, that the only thing he’s interested in is the person the union will choose”, he said.
Similarly, the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Comrade Nkem Nwaeke, had called on the journalists to give every necessary support for him to succeed.
He said the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor, has so much respect for journalists, saying the house needs more visibility.
According to him, the humility of the Speaker brought him this far, noting that the Speaker is a friend of journalists.
