The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has debunked reports of an explosion at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) in Rivers State, clarifying that the incident was a minor flare, not an explosion.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the company described the occurrence as a “flare incident” which has since been fully contained, posing no risk to staff, surrounding communities, or the environment.
“There is no danger or health hazard to staff, the surrounding communities, or the environment,” the statement emphasized.
NNPC Ltd further urged the public and media outlets to disregard any claims suggesting an explosion at the facility, calling such reports “entirely false.”
