Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a rare national leader who embodied integrity, discipline, and patriotic service.
In a heartfelt condolence message issued in Abuja, Senator Nwoko said the death of the former President, who passed away on Sunday in London, marks the end of an era defined by simplicity, moral uprightness, and unwavering dedication to Nigeria.
“On behalf of my family, associates, and the people of Delta North Senatorial District, I extend our deepest sympathies to the nation and to the immediate family of His Excellency, the late Muhammadu Buhari,” Nwoko stated.
“Nigeria has indeed lost an outstanding patriot. He was a man of exceptional honesty and self-discipline whose life was characterized by moral rectitude in public service.”
Senator Nwoko noted that Buhari was widely regarded as a symbol of honesty and modesty, both in his years as a military Head of State and later as a democratically elected President.
He praised the late leader’s austere lifestyle, which, he said, stood out in a region often marred by extravagance and corruption.
“Though no leader is without faults, President Buhari did his utmost in serving Nigeria across different epochs, from the civil war era of the 1960s to the rebirth of democracy. His legacy will be remembered for its emphasis on national unity and survival,” Nwoko added.
He concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the late President’s soul and divine comfort for his bereaved family.
