Hon. Chief Vincent Osilonya, Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, and his counterpart in Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, both of Delta State, have been honoured as Best Council Chairmen in Nigeria at the 2025 Annual Media Excellence Award.
The award ceremony, organised by Nigeria Radar Magazine in partnership with the Nigeria Distinguished Medal of Honour (NDMoH) Award, was held at the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja.
The event recognised outstanding leadership and impactful service at the grassroots, celebrating public office holders who have demonstrated accountability, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of their people since assuming office.
Speaking at the event, the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Radar Magazine, Mr. Tony Chuks Okwunebe A1, explained that the selection of the two council chairmen followed a thorough and independent assessment of their performances and measurable impact on grassroots development.
He noted that their achievements align with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for all, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
Mr. Okwunebe disclosed that both chairmen recorded notable progress in key sectors, including infrastructure development, education, road construction, healthcare delivery, water supply, youth empowerment, ICT advancement, and community engagement.
These interventions, he said, have significantly accelerated growth and improved the quality of life in their respective local government areas.
He described the initiative as a celebration of dedication, vision, measurable results, and excellence in local governance, stressing that it goes beyond titles to honour true champions of grassroots administration who have made tangible differences in the lives of the people.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to other distinguished personalities who have excelled in their various fields of endeavour.
The Nigeria Distinguished Medal of Honour Award continues to serve as a beacon of excellence, recognising individuals and organisations whose contributions have positively impacted national development and growth.
