NDDC Boss Says New Vision For N’Delta Region On Course

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Sole Administrator, Hon Akwa Effiong, has assured the poeple of Niger Delta of a new hope, new vision, new dreams to retransform the region to her original road map of rapid development.

It would be recalled that during an inspection tour to the NDDC warehouse at Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, the Interim Administrator, who was accompanied by directors of the Commission, directed that the waste disposal trucks be delivered to the relevant ministries of environment in the nine Niger Delta States with immediate effect he said.

The NDDC Interim Administrator who spoke to news men through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Olorogun Jaro Egbo, said President Mohamadu Buhari-led Federal Government efforts in repositioning the Niger-Delta region for accelerated development was on course inline with the Next Level Agenda to Better the life of every Nigerian across boards.

Speaking further, the NDDC Boss pointed out that Significant progress has been made in the Niger Delta Region, including the commencement of the Maritime University in Delta State, which is now in full capacity with over 1, 000 students spread across 13 undergraduate Courses in three Faculties.

Other achievements of this administration in the region are Modular Refineries currently at different stages of completion in 6 Niger Delta states of Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Imo States, he added. and the progress made in the establishment of modular refineries, including the Niger Delta Resources Refinery, NDPR which has now moved from 1,000 Bpd to 6,000 Bpd couple of weeks ago he added.

Other landmark ongoing projects in the Niger Delta, were Nigerian Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State which commenced full academic activities last year; ongoing Federal Government’s Presidential Amnesty Programme which continues to engage ex-militants and youths in the Niger Delta in formal education, vocational skills acquisition and empowerment schemes, while creating jobs for beneficiaries amongst others.

The completed Itakpe-Warri Rail line as well as the proposed development of Sea Ports in Warri, Ibaka Deep Sea Port, among other development projects like the establishment of Export Processing Zones to boost economic activities are also part of the goodies for the region. He added that the ongoing reorganisation and Audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), was to benefit the people.
