The Muri Patriotic Elders Forum (MUPEF) in Taraba State has established main and sub-committees to ensure the successful execution of a forthcoming Peace Summit aimed at fostering sustainable peace and development across all communities within the Muri enclave.
The main committee, tasked with organizing the summit, consists of 13 members, with Alhaji Usman Sa’idu Gassol, Secretary of the Muri Emirate Council, serving as Chairman.
Alhaji Yusuf B. Kunini will serve as Vice Chairman, and Abubakar Ishaku Mafindi will act as Secretary.
This committee is also charged with fundraising for the event, supplemented by five additional members to enhance its effectiveness and strengthen its capacity as the backbone of the initiative.
In addition to the main committee, MUPEF has formed six sub-committees. The Contact and Publicity Committee will be chaired by Yusuf Salihu Sansani with Mathew Eliud Jen as Vice Chairman.
The Protocol and Entertainment Committee is led by Adamu Sani Kona, with Mr. Aaron Artimas serving as Vice Chairman.
The Venue and Decorations Committee will be chaired by Rev. Dr. Philimon A. Saredau, with Hon. Phelomina Yavala as Vice Chairman.
The Security Committee will be headed by retired ACP Dantsoho D. Lau, assisted by retired Captain Adamu Umaru Kons, while the Communiqué Committee will be chaired by Dr. Yusha’u Sallau Jen.
During a meeting held on December 30, 2025, in Jalingo, the Chairman of MUPEF, Alhaji Hassan Ishaku, approved the constitution of the various committees along with their terms of reference.
He emphasized that the selection of committee members was based on merit and aligned with their professional qualifications, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them.
Malam Hassan Ishaku encouraged the committees to commence their work immediately and report back at the next MUPEF meeting, scheduled for January 6, 2026, to ensure the success of the Peace Summit, set to take place on January 26, 2026.
He called upon the entire Muri community to support the Peace Summit, highlighting its importance for sustaining peace and tranquility within the Muri Traditional Council and, by extension, throughout Taraba State.
