MARRIAGE: A Sacred Covenant To Be Cherished, Protected

1

In a heartfelt address, couples were encouraged to uphold the sanctity of their marriages, showing respect and forgiveness towards one another.

Rev. Fr. Augustine Nwaefiene delivered this essential message during the marriage ceremony of Burlington and Esther at the Saint Joseph Pro Cathedral in Asaba, Delta State.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a union free from external influences, urging couples to safeguard their relationship from third-party involvement.

Rev. Fr. Nwaefiene assured the newlyweds of God’s blessings, favor, and fruitfulness in all their endeavors.

In his homily, the officiating priest referenced the biblical texts from Genesis, John, and Galatians, highlighting the foundational significance of marriage.

He noted that Jesus performed his first miracle at a wedding in Galilee, transforming water into wine, and remarked on God’s creation of woman from man’s rib as a divine response to man’s loneliness.

Rev. Fr. Nwaefiene encouraged the couple to build a life together, reminding them that they are called to “go forth and multiply.”

The ceremony reached its pinnacle with the exchange of marriage vows and rings, during which the priest reminded the couple to support each other through both the joyful and challenging times.

Following the solemnization of their vows, Burlington and Esther graciously hosted their guests at a celebratory reception.
