A 35-year-old man, identified as Uwaila Idehen has reportedly killed his wife, and two children following an argument over infidelity.
Mr. Idehen committed the murder in the Owegie Community, located in the Ovia North east local government area of Edo State.
He fatally shot his 28-year-old wife, Maureen Idahen, and their two young children, Derick (3) and Desmond Idehen (2), on Sunday morning.
He confessed that the motive behind the heinous act was an alleged accusation of infidelity leveled against Maureen Idahen.
The murder suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation by the Police Commissioner in Edo, CP Hakeem Olusegun Odumosun.
He also revealed previous disputes between him and his wife centered around the issue of infidelity, which they had supposedly settled amicably.
However, tensions escalated when his wife threatened to socialize with other men if he did not cease his alleged infidelity.
Driven by anger, Idehen left the house to calm down. Upon his return, his wife persistently accused and insulted him.
In a fit of rage, he fired his “English-made double-barrel gun” through the door of his wife’s room, “unintentionally” taking the lives of his wife and their two children, who were lying on the bed.
However, their 5-year-old daughter, Precious, managed to escape unharmed
Odumosun, in response to this horrifying incident, condemned the suspect’s actions and assured that justice would prevail.
He added that Uwaila Idehen will face charges in court following the completion of the investigation.
