Ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Delta State, the growing supporters of Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), have been assured that the largest private industrialist in the state, would emerge the next governor of the oil rich State.
The assurance was given by Rev. Oke Iyidi, of St. Lazarus Christ Church, Int’l, on Thursday December 1st 2022, during a mega rally to receive hundreds of defectors from the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) at Okwagbe Waterside, Ughelli south local government area of the state.
He said: “Nigeria and Nigerians are tired of politics of ethnicity, bigotry and religious discrimination, rather the personality and influence of such individual in the society which Gbagi possesses, should give him the position.
“Having seen the influence Gbagi, has commanded as former minister of State for education, former Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, largest private investor in the state and former Chairman, Delta Development Property Authority, it is a clear assurance that if such a man is given the mantle of leadership as governor of oil rich Delta, he will do well and better.
“A sizeable number of communities have their communities light up and roads constructed for them as a result of the development mindset of the philanthropist cum industrialist”.
He called on all Deltans to vote for the candidacy of Gbagi as the best choice for a higher development in Delta State without first considering what they would gain.
“This is what is going to happen and that is what has already happened, Gbagi, is the one that is going to be the governor of this state.
“So, because of this, I want to advise everyone of us who is going to defect today, please defect with your hearts, minds and defect to work for the party and not only money.
“Some people will be looking for money to share, no. But work, when you work and when it comes to pass, you will benefit.
“As you are working, please remember you cannot vote with your ordinary hands, your PVC must be with you.
“Your PVC is your power, please if you don’t have, go and collect your own”, he said.
