All Workers Convergence (AWC), has called for reinstatement of the President of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Comrade Bola Audu, Deputy Secretary General of the union, Comrade Princewill Akamo and officials who were suspended by the union.

The National Coordinator of AWC, Comrade Andrew Emelieze made the call in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday.

It was gathered that Audu, Akamo and over twenty others were recently sacked by the union secretariat.

But, Emelieze while speaking, said that the union was disturbed by the sack of the officials of the union.

Emelieze, who is a former Chairman of ASCSN in Oyo State, called on the Trade Union Congress to intervene in the crisis rocking ASCSN before it degenerates further.

Whlile while speaking further, Emelieze also called on the Federal Ministry of Labour and her Registrar to intervene in the ASCSN crisis in order to avert miscarriage of justice.

“We are disturbed by the happenings in the Associated of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) which have cumulated into a crisis situation. We are worried that the crisis rocking ASCSN has the capacity to fractionalize the union and also lead to its collapse.

“We demand for the reinstatement of the suspended President Comrade Bola Audu. Ordinarily, we expect ASCSN to stand to the end with its President and not hurriedly suspend him based on petitions that is yet to be substantiated.

“Moreover, the immediate past President of ASCSN, Comrade Boboi Kegama had similar issues, and the union stood by him throughout his travails and was also made the ASCSN President despite being sacked from work in the Taraba State civil service. The case of Comrade President Bola Audu should not be different.

“We demand the reinstatement of the sacked Deputy General Secretary of ASCSN, Comrade Princewill Akamo and the over twenty recently sacked staff of the union by the union Secretariat.

“It is our view that the union is expected to protect jobs and the union should not go against what it is supposed to promote by encouraging incessant sack of workers. The hurriedly sacking of over twenty staff last month does not paint the union in good light especially when the Secretary General is to retire on September 29th, 2021 and he is sacking workers three months to his own exit from work.

“We demand the withdrawal of all petitions and court charges against the ASCSN President. We seek further explanations from the ASCSN President and the Secretary General (SG) on the crisis rocking the association.

“We demand for the recourse to the provisions of ASCSN constitution in resolving issues rather than the discretionary impositions as seen in the selection of an acting President; which has no place in the union constitution. We demand for the immediate halting of all forms of employment termination by the union.

“We call on the Trade Union Congress to intervene in the crisis rocking ASCSN before it degenerates further. We also call on the Federal Ministry of Labour and her Registrar to intervene in the ASCSN crisis in order to advert miscarriage of justice”.
