Ahead of the March 11th general election, the governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP), in Delta State, Ken Pela, has been accused of financial theft.
It was gathered that Ken Pela, purportedly borrowed money from Ughievwen Community Bank operated by the people many years ago without refund.
It was gathered that the Labour Party candidate allegedly emptied the bank and absconded with the monies kept by trader from Ughievwen kingdom before leaving the community.
A source who do not want the name on print said the antecedent of a man’s past has a long way to affect his present and the future.
“The life of every good leader must be of integrity and honesty”, our source said.
According to sources in the community, the people of Ughelli South has no bank not until recently in Okwagbe where Wetland opened one of their branches.
Investigation revealed that the first community bank Ughievwen had was allegedly robbed in a broad daylight without gun by the gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party, Ken Pela.
Although controversies surrounds the paternity of the Labour Party Governorship standard bearer in the state, some sources hinted that he is not paternally from Oginibo, as he claimed.
According to impeccable sources, he and his family came to Oginibo, where the largest employer of labour in the state cum governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, hails from on exile after his father allegedly killed someone in their supposedly hometown.
Check revealed that Ughievwen kingdom has rejected the candidacy of Ken Pela, after he allegedly borrowed money from the Community Bank, which made the bank to run aground.
It was alleged that Ken Pela, borrowed money from the Community Bank to contest for the Chairmanship of Ughelli South local government Council many years back but refused to pay back.
It was learnt that men and women whose monies were saved in the Community bank are still expressing curiosity as to why their monies were allegedly borrowed without a repayment system.
Many who are now informed of the past act of Ken Pela, have expressed shock as to how he was able to get out of the grip of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), to contest election.
Community sources said the SDP governorship candidate, Olorogun Gbagi FNIM, played a major role in closing the case file.
According to one of our sources, “You cannot bite the finger that fed you. Charity they say begins at home, Ughievwen people have reject him, Ughelli South people have rejected him and Delta State people have equally rejected him.
“We cannot move from borrowing government to another borrowing government”, the source lamented.
But aligning with our investigation, the former minister of state for education, Olorogun Gbagi, while addressing a support group otherwise known as Deltans Fixing Delta (DFD), in his country home, said Ken Pela, would be stone to death if he is seen anywhere around Ughievwen kingdom.
According to the security expert who confirmed he released Ken Pela, from the grips of ICPC, said: “The so-called person you people chose as your governorship candidate, he is a bastard.
“Their father killed somebody in their community in years past and they came to this village. Hitler, is here. When their father came, they came to hide here.
“At then, this was a big bush. They have stayed here for so long. He does not have a house and a home here. He cannot come here and tell Oginibo people that he wants to be governor when I say I want to be governor.
“They will stone him to death. Tell him to take you to his home. Where is his home?
“I got a call from the Prison and whatever I say to you is on print. So, I got a call and someone said I am in the Prison, they locked me, ICPC.
“And I said what did you do? And he said they say I am the one who stole all the money in Ughievwen Community Bank.
“They locked him and another fellow called Dase, I intervened and got him out of Prison”, he revealed.
Efforts to reach the accused for his side of the story, proved abortive.
However, contacted, the media aide, Mccollins O.N, said: “I for one knows that there was no such thing. I have made my enquiry and there was no such thing as far as I am concern. I don’t have any such fact on my table”, he said.
