Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has vowed to clamp down on individuals or groups attempting to foment trouble in the state, stressing that his administration will not compromise peace for any reason.

Briefing journalists on Monday September 22, 2025, in Asaba, the governor who spoke through the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said the governor remains committed to governing with fairness, inclusiveness, and peace, irrespective of ethnic, political, or religious considerations.

According to Aniagwu, who was flanked by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Olorogun Sir. Festus Ahon, Oborevwori has consistently demonstrated in his appointments and distribution of projects that his administration is for every part of Delta State, Anioma, Urhobo, Itsekiri, and Ijaw alike.

“The governor has made it very clear that irrespective of whoever is involved, anybody that goes ahead to ferment trouble will not be spared, no matter how highly placed or sacrosanct the platform may appear,” Aniagwu stated.

He explained that those attempting to push ethnic or sectional narratives were deliberately trying to misrepresent the governor’s inclusive leadership style.

He emphasized that Oborevwori’s MORE agenda, Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security, can only succeed in a peaceful atmosphere.

Aniagwu noted that the governor has opened up land space across the state through projects aimed at creating an enabling environment for investors, which in turn is expected to generate employment and reduce insecurity.

In furtherance of his peace drive, Oborevwori has also set up a Peace and Reconciliation Committee to reach out to aggrieved persons, underscoring his conviction that unity and reconciliation are indispensable to sustainable development.

“His commitment to a peaceful Delta is unshaken; his commitment to making Delta an investment destination is also unshaken,” Aniagwu added, stressing that Oborevwori would not be distracted by political undercurrents ahead of the 2027 elections.

The commissioner reaffirmed that the governor would continue to execute meaningful projects up until the end of his tenure, particularly initiatives that would provide employment opportunities for youths and bridge development gaps across the 25 local government areas.
