ICC Hails Mbasen’s Emergence As NAWOJ Financial Secretary

The Indigenous Correspondents Chapel (ICC) has congratulated Comrade Uba Dorathy Mbasen on her election as Financial Secretary in the just-concluded elections of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Comrade Kenneth Orusi, and the Secretary, Comrade Michael Odiah, the Chapel also felicitated with the newly elected Sonia Unobunjo-led Executive, describing their victory as well-deserved and a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in them by members of the association.

According to the statement, Comrade Mbasen’s emergence is a testament to her dedication, leadership qualities, and commitment to the growth of NAWOJ and the journalism profession.

“This victory reflects the confidence, trust, and admiration of members who have recognized your commitment, leadership qualities, and readiness to serve.

“Your emergence is a clear mandate to deliver purposeful leadership, promote inclusiveness, and sustain the ideals of progress and accountability,” the statement read in part.

The ICC leadership expressed optimism that under the new executive, NAWOJ will experience renewed energy, innovative ideas, and strengthened collaboration that will drive the association toward greater achievements.

“As you begin this new chapter, we urge you to remain steadfast, transparent, and people-focused in all your endeavors as an ambassador of the Indigenous Correspondents Chapel,” the statement added.

The Chapel further commended all members of NAWOJ for their peaceful conduct during the election and reaffirmed its support for initiatives that promote professionalism, unity, and gender inclusion in journalism.

The statement concluded with warm wishes to Comrade Mbasen and the new executive for a fruitful and impactful tenure.
