Security operatives have been called to launch rapid investigation into the matter boundary around the gruesome murder of Itsekiri leader and his wife, Pa Joseph and Dr. Mrs. Chiyere Ayomike in their GRA residence in Warri, Delta State.
A press statement on Monday June 28th 2021, by the Media Assistant, Monoyo Edon, to Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, said his family is in deep grief.
In his condolence message, the former governor said: “His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, the Immediate Past Governor of Delta State is heart-wrenched over the barbaric murder of Pa Joseph Ayomike and his dear wife -Dr. (Mrs). Chinyere Ayomike whose corpses were found in their Warri GRA residence in the morning of today Monday June 28, 2021.
“Dr. Uduaghan whose wife Her Excellency Mrs Roli Sheila Uduaghan is a neice of late PA Ayomike, has tasked security agencies to launch a rapid and thorough investigation into the murder of the founder of Warri Choral Society (WCS) and his wife who, until their death was a senior lecturer at the Delta State University, Abraka.
“The Ayomikes were very peaceful and quiet people. Why would anyone want to kill them and in the most dastardly manner in which there were killed?” This sad event has throne my family and everyone close to the Ayomikes in a state of deep grief.”
“A respected Itsekiri and community leader, Late Pa Ayomike was a reknown Economist who graduated from the London School of Economics.
“He was a very successful business man, especially in the hospitality industry, at various times running some of the busiest restaurants in Nigeria.
“He was also the founder of Agura Hotel in Abuja. A nationally and internationally reknown organist, he formed the Warri Choral Society, that organised annual programmes in Warri.
“The security agencies have been challenged to do all they can to apprehend and prosecute everyone involved in this murder.
“Late Pa Joe Ayomike was a brother to foremost Itsekiri historian and Chairman of the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILoT), late Pa J.O.S Ayomike”, the release added.
