The Diocese of Asaba Agape Foundation (DAAF) held a heartfelt Christmas Charity event, aimed at supporting children and less privileged individuals in Asaba, Delta State.
The event was hosted by the Bishop of Asaba, Rt. Rev’d Kingsley C. Obuh, who served as the Chief Host on Saturday, December 20, 2025, the premises of Anglican Girls Grammar School (AGGS).
The charity program was organized to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ while extending love, care, and support to society’s most vulnerable members, particularly children.
The festivities featured a lively display and auction of various items, complemented by a funfair that included Santa Claus, a bouncing castle, Mickey Mouse mascots, Christmas carols, and other engaging activities that contributed to a joyful atmosphere for the attendees.
Speaking on behalf of the Bishop, the Venerable Herbert Umeh shared insights about the foundation’s mission.
He explained that the Diocese of Asaba Agape Foundation was established by Rt. Rev’d Kingsley C. Obuh as a platform to coordinate church outreach efforts toward assisting the less privileged.
“Today, DAAF is hosting a special party for children, marking the first of its kind in the diocese,” Umeh stated.
“The foundation integrates the Prison Ministry, the elderly groups, and various outreach programs within the church, all focused on helping the less advantaged within our community.”
According to Umeh, the Christmas charity event aimed to reach out to children and vulnerable individuals as part of the celebrations surrounding Christ’s birth.
“This gathering is about celebrating Christmas and providing joy during this significant time,” he emphasized.
Umeh expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success, describing it as peaceful, well-attended, and impactful.
“You can see the celebration is going wonderfully. This inaugural party has allowed us to distribute food items and other goods to bring joy to those in need this holiday season,” he remarked.
He reassured attendees that the Christmas charity marked the first edition of the DAAF initiative and confirmed the foundation’s commitment to continuing its support for the less privileged in future events.
In his Christmas message to the public, church members, and the wider community, Umeh conveyed the essence of the season, characterized by peace, love, joy, and happiness.
“Christmas brings a reminder to care for the less privileged,” he noted.
As the year draws to a close, he concluded with a prayer for the community’s well-being.
“I pray that the Lord who has guided us throughout the year will lead us into a prosperous 2026, filled with joy, health, and happiness,” he added.
The event concluded on a high note, featuring entertainment, carol singing, and the distribution of food items and gifts, leaving attendees, especially the children and other beneficiaries, with lasting smiles on their faces, embodying the spirit of Christmas.
