Guwor Mourns Ankwai, Describes Death As Shocking, Painful

The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Usman Mohammed Ankwai.

Guwor said the news of Ankwai’s passing came as a rude shock, particularly at a critical period in the nation’s development, describing the loss as both heartbreaking and painful.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Conference Chairman lamented the demise of a committed legislator, humble leader, and dependable colleague, noting that Ankwai was a true brother in the service of the nation.

He disclosed that the late Speaker died in Cairo, Egypt, after a brief illness, adding that his dedication to the growth of Kebbi State and his invaluable contributions to the Conference of Speakers would be greatly missed.

Guwor stressed that Ankwai’s death is a significant loss not only to the Government and people of Kebbi State but also to the entire legislative community across Nigeria.

“At this painful moment, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Government and people of Kebbi State, members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, and all who mourn this irreparable loss,” he said.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him eternal rest, while also asking God to give his family, the people of Kebbi State, and associates the strength to bear the loss.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un, Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return,” Guwor added
