Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on indigent medical doctors from the state who are practising outside Kano to return home and take advantage of employment opportunities and incentives introduced by his administration to strengthen healthcare delivery.

The governor has approved automatic employment for qualified medical doctors willing to return and serve in secondary healthcare facilities across the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi, disclosed the development, noting that the Yusuf administration has fully implemented the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) in line with federal government standards, as part of efforts to attract and retain skilled medical professionals.

Dr. Mudi further explained that the employment offer guarantees continuity on the same grade level attained by the doctors with their previous employers, thereby ensuring seamless career progression.

He added that the government has also introduced additional incentives, including access to the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) and opportunities for in-house residency training in key medical specialties such as Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, among others.

According to him, Governor Yusuf has urged Kano indigenes practising medicine outside the state to return home promptly and report to the headquarters of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board for documentation and immediate absorption into the state healthcare system.

The initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to boost manpower capacity in the health sector and improve access to quality healthcare services for residents.
