Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has signed into law the 2025 Supplementary Budget totaling ₦143.42 billion, along with a ₦14.68 billion virement earlier approved by the State House of Assembly.

The supplementary appropriation is designed to strengthen key sectors of the administration and will remain in effect until May 31, 2026.

The budget, according to government sources, seeks to address urgent financial needs in critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, and economic development, while also cushioning the impact of inflation and exchange rate volatility on ongoing projects.

Governor Kefas noted that the additional funding will enable the state to tackle emerging economic and security challenges, realign expenditures in line with the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), and fast-track strategic development projects across Taraba.

With the new appropriation, Taraba State’s total budget for 2025 now stands at ₦574.8 billion, comprising 68.9% capital expenditure and 31.1% recurrent spending, underscoring the administration’s commitment to infrastructure-driven growth.

Meanwhile, the Taraba State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has urged the government to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely fund releases to achieve the objectives of the supplementary budget.
