In a bold move to reposition Taraba State as an agricultural powerhouse, Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an indigenous firm, Orijin Tech Group, to drive large-scale mechanised farming and agro-industrial development across the state.

The agreement, signed on Monday, October 6, 2025, during a working visit to Orijin Tech Group’s headquarters in Oregun, Lagos, underscores the Kefas administration’s commitment to harnessing Taraba’s vast natural and agricultural resources for sustainable growth and food security.

Under the partnership, Orijin Tech Group will establish mechanised agricultural projects covering up to 50,000 hectares of land.

The initiative includes the supply of modern farm machinery, irrigation systems, and the development of commodity aggregation hubs to support farmers and enhance productivity across the state.

Governor Kefas, who also toured the company’s Automobile Assembly Plant in Surulere, said the collaboration marks a major step toward achieving agricultural mechanisation and industrial advancement in Taraba.

During the visit, the Governor held strategic discussions with Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, Chairman of Orijin Tech Group, on implementing the partnership.

Their talks focused on establishing farm estates, mechanisation hubs, and processing centres that would create employment opportunities and attract agro-investments to the state.

Governor Kefas inspected a range of modern tractors, irrigation equipment, and farming technologies that will be deployed in Taraba under the new agreement.

He commended Orijin Tech Group for its innovation and commitment to national food security, expressing optimism that the partnership would transform Taraba’s agricultural landscape, empower local farmers, and generate thousands of jobs for youth and women.

“This collaboration is a clear demonstration of our vision to make Taraba a major food-producing state in Nigeria.

“We are unlocking our agricultural potential to ensure food security, job creation, and economic prosperity for our people,” Governor Kefas said.

The Governor was accompanied on the visit by members of the Taraba State Executive Council, House of Assembly, and Special Advisers, who described the agreement as a milestone in the state’s agricultural transformation agenda.
