Governor Fintiri Earmarks ₦26 Billion For Roads, Agriculture, Infrastructure Development

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the sum of ₦26 billion for critical investments in road construction, agriculture, and infrastructural development across the state.

The Governor made the announcement during a State Executive Council meeting held at the new Council Chamber, Government House, Yola, where the council granted approval for the projects.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the Council approved ₦3.89 billion for the construction of the 11.2-kilometre Plum Road in Michika Local Government Area, and ₦6.59 billion for additional asphalt overlay on the Mubi–Garta–Kamale Road, extending the road to 17.5 kilometres.

He further disclosed that ₦4.43 billion was approved for additional asphalt overlay on the 14-kilometre Sukur Road in Madagali, while ₦3.24 billion was allocated for asphalt surfacing of the 10.3-kilometre Kishinga Road.

According to the Commissioner, these road projects are designed to enhance connectivity, stimulate local commerce, and boost socio-economic activities in the benefiting communities.

In the agricultural sector, the Council approved ₦1.5 billion for the procurement of NPK fertilizer to support dry-season farming and ₦1.73 billion for the purchase of 22 Massey Ferguson tractors with accessories to strengthen mechanized agriculture in the state.

Other approvals include:

₦460 million for the accreditation of nine academic programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye.

₦256 million as a 20% counterpart fund for the 2025 Basic Health Care Provision Fund.

₦235.6 million as compensation for land acquired for the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.

₦481 million for the upgrade of the Jada Water Supply Scheme.

₦328.5 million for the purchase of a modern road-sweeping truck to enhance environmental sanitation.

Commissioner Iliya emphasized that these investments reaffirm the Fintiri administration’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development, improving agricultural productivity, and strengthening essential public services for the people of Adamawa State.
