Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has presented a fleet of new vehicles and motorcycles to security agencies in the state to further strengthen efforts in safeguarding lives and property.

Presenting 47 four-wheel-drive vehicles and 50 motorcycles to the various security formations, Governor Buni reaffirmed that ensuring the safety of citizens remains his administration’s top priority.

He commended the Federal Government, the armed forces, and other security agencies for their sustained collaboration in maintaining peace and security across Yobe State.

“We express our profound gratitude to officers and men of the security agencies, as well as members of vigilante groups and hunters, for their dedication and gallantry in providing security in every part of the state,” the Governor stated.

Buni explained that the vehicles and motorcycles were provided as part of the government’s ongoing logistic support to enhance the operational capacity of the security agencies and enable them to perform their duties more effectively.

During the presentation ceremony, all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the 17 local government areas received one vehicle each.

Additional vehicles were allocated to the State Police Headquarters, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Correctional Service, the Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Other beneficiary agencies included the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The governor also extended the gesture to all 17 local government chairmen, who each received a vehicle to aid their day-to-day security operations, while the motorcycles were distributed among the security agencies for field patrols.

Governor Buni further directed local government chairmen to oversee the maintenance of the vehicles assigned to the police within their jurisdictions.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Affairs, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd.), commended Governor Buni for his consistent support to security agencies through logistics, accommodation, and welfare initiatives.

He assured that the vehicles would be put to judicious use to further enhance security across Yobe State.
